Time management is an important tool that people need in everyday life. By being able to deal with demands in an orderly fashion, people can keep their stress levels low. Chronic, elevated levels of stress can lead to health problems.

Here are four ways to better manage your time:

1. Use a Calendar

Using a calendar might seem to be an obvious answer. However, many people do not utilize a calendar, especially a paper one, to help schedule their time. Instead of using the old-fashioned calendars, you should consider downloading a digital one. Many apps on smartphones can help people organize their work and manage their time effectively since some phones can sync up to computers and tablets. If you have to manage your time with members of your family, sharing your digital calendar can make life even simpler.

2. Social-media Boundaries

When using a digital calendar, you risk being on your phones for a longer period of time, which can lead to browsing on different social media websites. Even though these social media websites might be entertaining, they are also very time-consuming. In order to prevent spending too much time, you should set up boundaries and try to stick with them. An example of a boundary could be to turn off the phone during mealtimes.

3. Take Notes

Whenever possible, take down notes. Notes can help you remember what you need to do and when to do it. Notes can also be organized so that you know what your priorities are.

4. Ask Help

Do not be too shy or embarrassed to ask for help. When you feel extremely overwhelmed and stressed, seek help from friends, co-workers or family members. Remember to ask people who are equipped to help you with your particular task at hand.

If all else fails, exercising has been linked to reducing stress levels. If you can set aside half an hour to an hour for exercise, your mind and body can become more prepared to tackle the rest of your tasks.
