Not all foods are created the same. In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, people have to put good food into their bodies. Here are 10 foods that women, in particular, should eat.

1. Broccoli

Broccoli might not be on people's favorite foods list, but it sure is healthy. Researchers have found that broccoli, like other cruciferous vegetables, can help people fight against cancer. Other types of vegetables that have similar benefits include cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

2. Beets

According to a 2008 study conducted by the American Heart Association, beet juice has been linked to reducing blood pressure. Beets are also rich in potassium and folate, and have anti-inflammatory properties. Adding more beets into your diet can be beneficial.

3. Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that can be found in a lot of Indian cuisine. The spice, which belongs to the ginger family, has been linked to treating inflammation, digestive issues, arthritis and even Alzheimer's disease.

4. Sardines

Sardines are a cheap and convenient source of fish oil, vitamin D and calcium. These fish are also rich in selenium, which is an antioxidant that can boost the immune system.

5. Kale

Kale has been linked to combatting cancer. The vegetable, which is a part of the broccoli family (brassica), can help reduce cholesterol, which then lowers people's risk of suffering from a heart event, such as a heart attack. Kale is also packed with vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium and carotenoids.

6. Blueberries

Blueberries have been praised repeatedly for having super-antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties. These chemicals can help reduce people's risks of heart disease, diabetes and arthritis. The fruit has also been tied to protecting brain health.

7. Black Beans

Black beans contain high levels of minerals, folate, magnesium and iron. They are also a good source of soluble fiber and contain flavonoids, which are chemicals tied to combatting cancer.

8. Tart Cherries
Tart cherries are typically used in baking and can be found frozen, juiced or canned. These types of cherries can fight inflammation and help with pain management.

9. Almonds

Almonds are some of the healthiest nuts to eat. They contain probiotics that help with digestion. Almonds also have healthy fats that can help reduce cholesterol levels.

10. Quinoa

Quinoa contains nine essential amino acids, which make up the muscles and organs inside our bodies. Without amino acids, the muscles and organs will start to break down, which is why eating foods rich in amino acids is important. On top of this health benefit, quinoa is also full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
