Five Mistakes You Are Making in the Morning

How your mornings start can greatly affect your mood for the rest of the day. Here are five habits to avoid in order to start off your day right:

1. Waking up in a cave

Waking up in a cave is a bad way to start off the day. Since sunlight can help get your body and mind moving, opening your shades once you wake up can make a huge difference. Sunlight can also help regulate energy levels, appetite and metabolism.

2. Skipping water

Drinking water throughout the day is important in order to avoid dehydration. However, drinking water first thing in the morning is something you should not skip. Water can make you feel mentally sharper, happier and more energetic.

3. Exercising on an empty stomach

Exercising in the morning is a great way to start off the day. It can get your body and mind going and ready for errands, tasks and work. Exercising on an empty stomach, however, is a different story. When you burn energy on a flat stomach, you can end up feeling too tired, which can hinder your performance level.

4. Skipping out on protein

Eating protein early on during your day can help keep you full. When your body is satisfied, your brain will most likely be as well. In addition to being full, consuming protein throughout the day can help strengthen your muscles.

5. Letting road rage get to you

Road rage, whether it is from car traffic or public transportation, can ruin your day. If you get into traffic on a daily basis, try to adjust your route or your schedule. If that does not help, learning basic skills to calm and soothe you through traffic can end up helping you a great deal.
