In order to adopt a healthier diet, you must first know what kinds of foods are good for your body. However, some good foods can ruin your diet if you eat too much of it. Here are six foods that are surprisingly high in carbohydrates.

1. Dried Figs

Figs are extremely healthy fruits because they are packed with fiber, copper, potassium, manganese and pathotenic acid. However, they are also high in carbs. Since dried figs are small, you might be tempted to pop a couple of them in your mouth, which can hurt your diet.

2. Prune Juice

Prune juice is packed with fiber, sorbitol and vitamins. Despite being dense in nutrients, just one eight-ounce glass contains 45 grams of carbs.

3. Chestnuts

Chestnuts can make a very delicious snack, whether you choose to eat them raw or roasted. Chestnuts are full of protein and low in calories but high in carbs.

4. Baked Beans

Beans are a great source of fiber and protein, especially for vegetarians. However, overconsumption of beans can lead to high carb intake and high sugar intake if the beans are canned.

5. Sugar-free cookies

Just because sugar-free cookies might not have sugar in them, it does not mean that they are carb-free as well. Many sugar-free cookies will have the same amount of carbs as non sugar-free options.

6. BBQ Sauce

When people think of carbs, they might picture starchy foods, such as bread and potatoes. However, as we all know now carbs can be lurking in many different kinds of meals. For instance, BBQ sauce contains about four to 10 grams of sugar per serving and can increase your consumption of carbs.
