The grocery store is a tricky place and we are bound to make mistakes there. However, with the help of some tips, you can make some smart decisions.

Here are some tips backed by nutrition expert for making a healthy grocery shopping a success:

Make a list

Enter your grocery store with a list of healthy foods in order they are laid out. It will help you resist temptation, and also speedup the process as you won't be wasting time cruising the aisles unnecessary.

Don't go hungry

Never attempt to grocery shop when you are hungry. Being hungry can result in too many impulse buys.

Don't neglect canned foods

Canned fruits and vegetables can be just as nutritious as fresh and frozen. Also, canned foods are always available. Experts suggest stocking pantry with canned veggies, fruits legumes and broths, which can help make a healthy meal in minutes.

Go plain

Studies suggest, the original versions of foods and beverages like cereals, soy milk, yogurt, pasta sauces and more are usually most nutritious. One reason might be that as brands to extend product lines, they move into more decadent offerings that cost more but have less nutritional values.

Consider organic carefully

Going all organic is not realistic for most of us. However, you can easily and affordably minimize pesticide exposure when you buy according to the lists.
