Mommies around the world, here is some fantastic news for you. As you struggle with raising your children and are at your wit's end thinking about how life is getting to you - here is some reassuring news (or maybe not): life is only getting longer for you.

A UK study found that women who are mothers are 20% less likely to die early at any given point of time, than women who have no children, reports the Daily Mail. The study also delved into the link between breastfeeding and longevity and yes there is a connection. Breastfeeding and even taking oral contraceptives, are also linked to longer lives. The hormonal changes that take place in conjunction with bearing a child are presumed to be associated with reduced risk of cancer and healthier hearts, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mail, researchers from Imperial College London analyzed data of around 3,22,972 women from across ten European countries, over a span of 13 long years. In this study group, around 14,383 of the women passed away. While 6,000 of them died of cancer, 2,400 succumbed to heart diseases.

What was interesting to find in the research was that those women who had children had a 1/5th or 20% of a better chance to survive. Especially women in their 20s with their first child had even better health statistics. Further, analysis showed that women who had two to three children were less likely to die from cancer as compared to other women, reports the Daily Mail.
