Apple Could Make The iPhone 7 Thinnest Ever
Could 2016's iPhone set standards in thickness or rather thinness? If recent reports are any indication, iPhone 7 could approach existing iPods in thickness.
According to Valuewalk, a patent granted to Apple for a D-shaped connector for a thinner and shorter headphone jack. This has set of rumors that the new iPhone may not be thick enough for a 3.5 mm jack. Apple iPhone thickness has drawn criticism in the recent past after few users reported their iPhone 6 bending in pockets. To prevent such incidents, Apple increased the thickness of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus devices.
That notwithstanding, speculation is rife that next year's iPhone will be thin. According to The Week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a report suggesting the iPhone 7 will be under-6.5 mm in thickness.
To make its phones shed thickness, Apple began to design them out of Aluminum that allowed the phone to yield while being thin. However if speculation about the iPhone proves true, the company may be forced to look for other materials should it try to approach the iPods in thickness.
Interestingly, the iPhone 7 does not exist yet and it is not clear yet if iPhone 6S sales have been satisfactory for Apple and its shareholders.
