Women Experience More Sexual Fantasies During Ovulation Period

By Staff Reporter | Update Date: Mar 30, 2012 09:12 PM EDT

Contrary to old studies that women carried sexual fantasies only once in a while, a more accurate study conducted by the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, says that women happen to have more sexual imagination during their ovulation.

New research focuses on the women's hormones and their connection with their sexual interests and finds that women are more likely to be addicted to their sexual feelings and imagination during the most fertile period of their menstrual cycles than on other days of the month.

The research, led by Samantha Dawson of the University of Lethbridge, took a sample of 27 heterosexual women of 18-30 years old who were not in any relationship or on hormonal birth control.

According to the study, the women who are supposed to have an average of 0.77 sexual fantasies per day, saw a sudden hike in the number to about 1.3 fantasies on each fertile day. Sexual fantasies during the most fertile period included a higher number of men.
Like most men, the women also seemed to give priority to the emotional part of the fantasy than the visual part.

Through an online system the women recorded daily their sexual fantasies for one month.

The most fertile 10 days of the women were studied thoroughly. They were subjected to a urine test during this time to find out the correct day of ovulation.

Mentioning that the new study supports the previous study's conclusion that "peak fertility coincides with increased sexual desires, arousability, and sexual motivation in women," Ms. Dawson said: "... when conception risk is highest (ovulation) women would want to secure a potential partner whom they are connected to emotionally, in case a pregnancy results from any interaction during this phase," reported the Mail Online.
