Chinese Scientists Learn Secret Panda Language
Now you can actually learn the panda's language, for scientists in China have found that 13 different sounds make up their language, according to The Daily Mail.
Some scientists at the Wolong Panda Research Center in southwest China have been trying to understand the language for five years.
"Through the recordings and spectrum analysis, we have deciphered some of the panda's language," said Zhang Hemin, the center's director.
The 13 sounds ranged from baby pandas telling their mothers what they needed, to expressions of love between the panda partners, according to RT.
"We understand them at feeding, courtship, nursing babies and emotions from different scenarios," Zhang said.
"Mom, you are crushing me. Please hold me in another position so I can feel better," is just one of the phrases from the cubs, when they whimpered "wah-wah." On the other hand, if they are hungry they can guzzle "gee-gee", while a sated "cuckoo" means that they have finished eating.
They emit some special calls during mating seasons too, with both partners giving out in unique ways, according to the BBC.
"When it is mating season, pandas use their own unique love language. Male pandas will issue 'baa' sounds and females will 'chirp' like a bird," Zhang added.
