Men Show Off their Beards at the National Beard and Moustache Championships 2015
Men travelled from all across the nation to compete in Annual Beard and Moustache Championship, 2015 only for men. This event promoted the 150th Anniversary of Fire Department of New York saw 300 participants showcasing their facial hair and competing in 18 categories at the King's Theatre. The styles included the delicate moustache of Dali, Amish beard and other freestyle groups. The number one prize was awarded to Scott Metts from Orlando Florida for his impeccable moustache and full beard. In the prize, he won a trip to next year's competition where he can reenter to preserve his title, reports Daily Mail.
Keith Haubrich took the second prize for sporting the Dali style moustache, which was borrowed from a Salvador Dali's famous facial hair. The third spot was earned by Gary Faulkner with a unique figure-8 styled beard, earning him his winning spot in the freestyle category. One of the most noteworthy looks were sported by Erik Brooks who created a birdcage look using his facial hair. Instagram commenters were stumped by Erik's innovative look by one person calling it "insane". The English moustache category was won by Alfred Nash from Los Angeles who styled his moustache in a pointy whisker, finishing the look with spectacles and a top hat, says Daily Mail.
Even though the competition is held at a national level, some beard enthusiasts traveled from other parts of the world to New York, just to participate. One of them was Roberto Campo who came all the way from Mexico to flaunt his pointy moustache. The competition did not judge its participants by the wildest or the most complicated style but the way it complimented the style and the personality of the contender, as reported by Utah People's Post.
