Tim Cook Confirms that Apple will not integrate MacBook and iPad

Tim Cook, CEO Apple, announced earlier this week that their latest release, iPad Pro "is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop" for many users. The iPad Pro has been designed in such a way that it mixes the style of a tablet with additional provision of a keyboard and stylus, just like Microsoft Surface products. However, Cook called Surface Book a "diluted" product for "trying to be a tablet and a notebook and it really succeeds at being neither", reported The Verge.

According to a report published in Independent, when Cook made the remark, he was referring to the notebooks and desktops run on Windows, not Apple's Mac range. "We don't regard Macs and PCs to be the same," says Cook. "What we've tried to do is to recognize that people use both iOS and Mac devices." According to Cook, what iPad Pro will do is replace a Windows PC and not a MacBook. In his interview, he suggested that PCs are not what they used to mean anymore. He was quoted by Daily Telegraph saying, "I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?" But in this statement, Cook was referring to PCs by Windows and not by Apple. "We don't regard Macs and PCs to be the same," he said

Even though the latest iPad Pro has made serious leaps in graphics and power, the company believes that their Macs and iPads still hold strong future. "It's true that the difference between the X86 [personal computer] and the A-series [Apple iPad architecture] is much less than it's ever been," says Cook. "That said, what we've tried to do is to recognize that people use both iOS and Mac devices. So we've taken certain features and made them more seamless across the devices. So with things like Handoff we just made it really simple to work on one of our products and pick it up and work on the next product", reports Engadget.
