Apple App Store’s Strict Rules May Dissuade Developers from Making Apps for iPad Pro

Apple iPad Pro has been taking in the spotlight ever since its launch for all the right and wrong reasons. Sporting a stunning look, powered by formidable software and excellent features with a multitude of creative apps makes it a worthy gadget. However, there are a few developers who are becoming increasingly uncomfortable about the App Store's policies which might even persuade them to quit making apps for the tablet. The biggest challenge that the app developers are currently facing is that iPad Pro is still operating on a mobile software, even though it is being marketed as a replacement for PCs. What makes the developers more dissatisfied is the money earned by selling apps on the iPad. They could make a lot more money by generating apps for Mac instead. Some of the developers are even unhappy about not being able to introduce free trials of the apps that they develop. They cannot even offer paid upgrades to their users who have been with them for a long time, via the App Store, reports Tech Times.

Emanuel Sa and Pieter Omvlee, developers of the app Sketch, say that they will not introduce an iPad Pro version of their popular app, even though they have received positive reviews for it and the professional graphic designers like their app. "Yes, it has a beautiful screen, but there's more to consider," says Sa. "Apps on iOS sell for unsustainably low prices due to the lack of trials." He adds that there is no point in expanding the app's usability on iPad Pro if they will not make profit. "Sketch on the Mac costs $99, and we wouldn't dare ask someone to pay $99 without having seen or tried it first," Omvlee said in a recent interview with The Verge. "So to be sold through the App Store, we would have to dramatically lower the price, and then, since we're a niche app, we wouldn't have the volume to make up for it."
