Xbox 360 is now a Decade Old
Wishing you a very happy birthday Xbox 360 for turning 10 years old! Microsoft is the second largest gaming console maker and released its first console in Canada and USA on 22nd November 2005. It is also the second birthday of its third console, Xbox One, that was released on the same day in 2013 across 13 countries. Chief Product Office, Marc Whitten, now the product officer at Sonos, went on Twitter to share some fond memories when he left the organization in 2014. "So proud of the legacy of Xbox 360. The system built with a service inside turns 10. Congrats to the team & the fans that made it," Whitten wrote. He added, "I'm biased, but its [sic] one of the most important consoles in history. The road from horse armor to Halo World Championship was bumpy but fun."
As reported by PC Mag, Whitten notes that Xbox 360 has done fairly well for itself in the market, so much so, that the gamers will now be able to play 100 of their favorite old games. Microsoft added a backward compatibility feature in its new update on the Xbox that allows old games to run on the system.
Xbox when launched became one of the most successful gaming consoles for the software company. In June 2014, Microsoft sold 84 million units to consumers, something that the original Xbox could not achieve when it hit the market. Xbox 360 is considered as one of the best video game consoles out there, giving PlayStation a run for their money. It is not just Xbox 360's birthday but also its successor Xbox one that was also launched on the same day amid a lot of negative press, reports Tech Times.
