In a recent study conducted by researchers, it is found that the envy id the key motivator for the posts that are put up on Facebook and that contributes to a decrease in the mental well being among users.

Participation in the social media has done more bad than good to the humanity and such participation has been linked to depression, anxiety and narcissistic behaviour. However, scientific reason for the same has not been explained.

Prof. Izak Benbasat, a lead researcher from the university of British Columbia, Canada, said, " Creating various cycle of jealousy and self importance, Facebook leads users to feel their lives are unfulfilling by comparison, and react by creating posts that portray their best selves".

"Sharing pictures and stories about the highlights of your life's- that's so much of what Facebook is for, so you cant take away that. But i think its important for people to know for what impact it can have on their well being", he warned.
