Santa Monica-based Dr. Robert Hamilton has been a paediatrician for 30 years, and has been meeting "screaming and crying babies" regularly. He decided to invent a trick to soothe down crying babies, according to HNGN.

Now this discovery is "The Hold." Watch the video to see how he does it---he first folds the baby's arms to her chest, then he supports her head, and with the other hand clasps her bottom.

Seated at an angle of 45 degrees, the baby was gently rocked up and down.

In the video, you can see that the baby's her chin is rested on his index finger and seated at an angle such that she cannot throw back her head or lose her balance.

The technique was shared on Reddit, Many respondents found it peculiar. "It's interesting to watch this dude handle babies like recently thawed butterball turkeys," said one commenter. Other respondents said that babies tend to be resilient. In fact, a patient said that the doctor had told him and his wife, "They aren't as fragile as you think they are."
