Thanks to emoji, the way people communicate through their mobile devices has changed significantly. It enables you to add feelings and expressions to your chats through a single character, making the message seem more lively. Emoji have become a very popular method of texting, so much so, it is being included in every message by an average user. This is the reason why software updates that include new emoji on the mobile device are sough after by the users, says Forbes.

According to Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President of Android, Chromecast and Chrome OS at Google, made an official announcement on Twitter that new emoji will be made available on the Android devices starting from next week and will be first introduced on the Nexus phones. The emoji will be added in a new system image which will also have a new font and a keyboard. Lockheimer also said that even though the Nexus device updates will start from next week, third party OEMs can plan their own schedule for the update. The third party OEMs usually change the emoji on their own so it can take a while for the new changes to be made available for devices manufactured by Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony. The reason why Nexus receives the first software update is because Google oversees its development and support directly, reports The Verge

The latest emoji keyboard will now include taco, unicorn and a lion face. To include the change, new keyboard, font and code is required which means full system update. Even though it may have taken a while for Android to pick up the speed of the Unicode support, it is a good news for the users that it is gradually catching up with Apple in terms of the latest addition to the software upgrade, said Engadget.
