Jimmy Carter Is Off Cancer's Hook

Former US President and Habitat for Humanity's leading public figure, Jimmy Carter, announced recently that he's getting some extra years in life after revealing the good news to his fellow churchgoers at Maranatha Baptist Congregation in Plains, Georgia this Sunday.

According to Stat News, the 91-year old former American chief appeared to have overcome a dreadful prognosis by medical experts in recent MRI scans. He was reportedly diagnosed with melanoma cancer last August this year. The cancer was thought to have already affected his liver and brain as reported by ABC News.

The news was also confirmed by former Georgia Governor and grandson Jason Carter.

"There has been no evidence of that at all," the younger Carter stated as mentioned in AJC News.

The frail-looking but publicly active Carter felt instantaneously relieved after receiving the information from his doctors. He also revealed that his ultimate life-saver was a newly-developed immunotherapy drug known as Keytruda.

"I'm taking special treatments for the cancer in my brain and in my liver...And now I'm taking a long-term medicine. And it stimulates my own immune system to fight against the cancer... ", said Carter as recorded in the interview transcript with NPR.

While the news is exceptionally positive and encouraging for Carter, Dr. Len Lichtenfeld from American Cancer Society cautiously reminded the public that the former statesman is not perfectly safe from cancer.

"It doesn't mean that there is no cancer in his body; it means that there is no indication that they can find cancer for the present," Dr. Lichtenfeld was quoted saying by AJC News.

Despite his ailing health and twilight age, Jimmy Carter continuously proves that he is not slumbering on his earlier commitments as a socio-civic leader. He is still very much active with Habitat for Humanity and the religious congregation he is affiliated with.
