Just recently Microsoft made Cortana available on iOS and Android this week. However, a much bigger features are on the horizon for its future integration with Windows. Cortana was launched on Windows 10 starting this year and now Microsoft is already planning major updates with a codename Redstone. This upgrade will make Cortana more powerful and useful for the Windows users. Sources that are aware of Microsoft's plans reveal to The Verge that the company is planning to make Cortana float around Windows 10.

This floating mechanism will make Cortana appear on top of the documents so that it can offer guidance and information as required. It is also said that it is very powerful search tool and not just a bothersome character like Clippy. If Microsoft truly has such grand plans for Cortana then the digital assistant will offer much greater control over many Windows features like ability to mute the notifications etc., reports Yahoo News

Microsoft is also experimenting with the idea of integrating Cortana with Office 365 so that they are able to make it available within its latest OS. For businesses this means that Windows 10 will become the core of projects allowing Cortana to become more helpful by providing useful information based on who is working on the document. Project Redstone is not just about enhancing Cortana but it is also planning to upgrade its notification center so that it becomes a lot more functional than it is now. Versions in the future will be able to integrate app like widgets into the action center to improve its functionality, as per The Verge.

On its phones, Microsoft is already in the process of developing on-tap service for Cortana. Just like Google's Now feature, Cortana will make an appearance contextually which will allow quick access to required information, says The Verge.
