The news has been out since 2014, even though it was largely considered as a rumor back then, that GoPro drone will be revealed in 2016. The news was confirmed in the code conference that was held this year and it will be named "Karma". The company made an announcement about the launch and the name in its YouTube video that was published today, reports the company's official blog.

Even though not much has been said about the upcoming drone, all they said was that the price will be suitable for the consumers to add it to their collection. However, despite the fact that GoPro action cameras are already pricey, this revelation doesn't mean too much. The other exciting thing about the upcoming drone is its name, Karma, as reported by Beta News.

The Karma will mean that GoPro is not entering the consumer drone market that has witnessed an exponential growth since it came under the government regulation, says The Verge. The biggest company in the drone space so far is DJI that is already $1 Billion strong and is also gradually moving into the GoPro territory by introducing the ground-based cameras and filmmaking devices.

The official launch of the device, GoPro Karma, will happen in 2016 and will be the first time the action camera company ventures into an emerging drone market that is currently led by a Chinese Player, DJI. A 2-minute short video of the drone was posted by the company in October and the fans can sign-up for the newsletter to become one of the 100 winners of free Karma drones when they launch in the market, reports PetaPixel. The new models are also said to have exceptional video and audio quality that makes them suitable for professional use as well.
