New Upgrades Pushed by Apple During Holiday Season
With the holiday season kicking in, Apple is encouraging the customers to upgrade their old iPhones into new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus through their website, email and even the app store banner ad. The new section on the Apple website reminds the customers about the trading opportunity which they can either do from an Apple store or through their online partner, Brightstar. The users who make the switch will get an instant $320 credit. The Apple users using Apple 4 and beyond can trade in their handsets, reported Mac Rumors.
The mass email sent to the customers in U.S. is vehemently promoting the iPhone upgrade program and also volunteers information about the financing options. Apple has upped its advertising game when they decided to advertise their new iPhones to the iPhone users directly through the App Store using the pop-up banner ad that can be dismissed by clicking "skip" in the top-right corner, says Mac Rumors. When the holidays approach, iPhones become the hottest gifts so it is not unusual for Apple to push its latest smartphones with additional benefits such as free shipping, complementary gift wrapping, extended returns and more.
Apple sold 48 million units in the fourth quarter of 2015 fiscal year. Last year, around the same time, the figure was 39.2 million units. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales have already topped the record of 13 million units on the launch weekend itself. However, Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst predicted that iPhone 6s will not sell better than iPhone 6.
Apple has also employed tactics like pop-up ads to educate the customers about the upcoming offer. However, the ads are not being taken very well by the users who feel annoyed by the desperate attempt of Apple to sell its upgrade, reports BGR.
