Christmas Full Moon To Burn December Skies For First Time Since 1977
This Christmas is going to be a special one since 1977. A full moon will light up the skies for the first time since 1977, according to scienceworldreport.
The moon will reach the peak size at 6:11 a.m. ET, visible to all even as people usher in the Christmas aurora.
The annual Yuletide full moon will occur just three days after the winter solstice on Dec. 22 at 11:48 EST, according to weather.
December's full moon, the final one of the year, has many names, such as the Full Cold Moon, Full Long Nights Moon or the Moon before Yule. These nights would be longest and darkest in the last month of the year, says abcnews.
In December, the moon hovers over the horizon for a longer time than usual.
You could schedule all your other programs after watching this event, as it will not rise on Christmas again until 2034.
