Martin Sheen received a major heart surgery on Thursday, and his son Emilio Estevez tweeted a picture of him holding a huge stuffed heart even as he gave a thumbs up sign to the camera.

"My Pop! Successful proactive quadruple bypass surgery this week!" Estevez, 53, captioned the photo of Sheen, 75. "A great Blessing indeed!"

"Martin extends a big thumbs up and a BIGGER heartfelt 'THANK YOU' for all your well wishes and prayers," Esteves revealed on the official Facebook site  for their film "The Way of the Movie." "He wants to wish you a very Merry Christmas and sends you all a mighty blessing!"

The heart operation had been conducted at a Los Angeles hospital in the past weekend and his mother Janet Sheen was at the premises, along with other members of the family.

"My father displayed great courage, strength and humility as he took on this challenge," he continued. "Not surprisingly, he is recovering beautifully, out of the ICU and is expected to not only be home for Christmas but be 100% by the time he returns to work on season three of the Netflix series, 'Grace and Frankie' early next year. Please lift him up and keep him in your prayers."

The other celebrity son, Charlie Sheen had also dropped in to see his father Martin, said a source to US Weekly, on Dec. 14.
