Jimmy Carter's 28-Year-Old Grandson Jeremy Dies After Suffering Heart Attack
Jimmy Carter's joy on recovering from cancer was short-lived. The former president announced the death of his 28-year-old grandson Jeremy Carter earlier this week.
Carter announced his grandson's death during a Sunday school class at a church in Georgia, just hours after the death, People reported. He urged the congregation to be filled with joy despite the tragedy that had struck his family.
Jeremy Carter was the son of Jeff Carter, Jimmy Carter's third son. Jeremy's older brother Josh informed in a blog post that his younger brother had undergone battery of tests earlier this year but doctors at Emory could not see that his heart was going out.
"They ended up prescribing him Vitamin A and Vitamin D. After all that. He got the full work over and really just needed vitamins. If a 28 year old heart is going to go out, shouldn't they have found that? Maybe, but they didn't," Josh said. Jeremy's mother Annette Carter had found him without a heartbeat and performed CPR to revive him. He was then rushed to ER where he died on Sunday.
The cause of death remains unknown and is reportedly being investigated by Fayette Country Coroner's office and the state medical examiner.
