Sri Lankan women escapes Saudi Death Sentence
A Sri Lankan women who was awarded death sentence on charges of adultery by a Saudi Arabian court, will now serve a reduced sentence.
The Sri Lankan women, who is a mother of two was taken up for an appeal , and thus there was a successful outcome.
Ms. Thalatha Atukorle, Minister of Foreign Employment said, the government came to know about the case of the women only after the conviction. She [appointed out that generally Sri Lankan migrant workers did not bring to notice such cases to Sri Lankan Mission in foreign countries. She added that there were nearly 40,000 Sri Lankans working in Saudi Arabia.
