Man Sues Bethesda as he Loses his Job and Wife due to Fallout 4 Addiction
A Russian man from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, aged 28-years, has reportedly sued the Bethesda Game Studios, the game developers behind Fallout 4, after he lost his wife and job due to playing the addictive game for three weeks incessantly. In his lawsuit, he has demanded 500,000 roubles, estimated to be around £4,730, in compensation because he never knew that the game would "become so addictive". According to the young man, he started skipping work which cost him his job and then his wife left him due to his addiction. He also started loosing health due to lack of sleep. According to Russia Today, the man said, "If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays."
The man, whose identity has been withheld, said that he found the game in an advertisement and then following the ad, he downloaded it into his computer. His intention was only to play on and off for a few evenings but instead, he got completely hooked on to the game and started missing his workdays just to play the game. As a result, he lost his job and stopped all social interaction with his friends. Soon after, his wife left him and his health also started to deteriorate due to improper sleep and diet, reported Yahoo News.
The team of lawyers in charge of the case said that the only reason this man has a case is the warning labels that are usually added to the products that are sold in United States to inform the buyers of its harmful effects, says the RT report. The firm said that that they will "see how far we can go regarding this case", as reported by Christian Post
