In an apparent effort to regain public trust after the E.Coli outbreak, the scandal-ridden Chipotle Mexican grill says it will alter its recipes and impose a newly-revised cooking methods to add more layers to food safety.

Changes to its food preparation include dipping onions in boiling water to kill food bacteria before chopping, marinating raw chicken meat in re-sealable plastic bags instead of doing it in bowls to avoid contamination, and adding cilantro to hot steamy cooked rice to neutralize germs in the garnish according to CBS News.

"Right now, our highest priority is implementing all of the components of our enhanced food safety program. We are moving very quickly on that and will share more information through marketing and communications outreach as things continue to develop," told Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold as quoted saying by CNBC.

The E.Coli outbreak which resulted to 50 confirmed cases of food-borne illness across the US has driven Chipotle stocks down in recent months.

Prior to the food scandal, the famous burrito maker prided itself in providing a healthy alternative to non-fresh and artificial food ingredients that conventional fast food chains offer.

However, the food scandal has put the company in a tight race to win back a declining customer base of health-conscious diners. This pushed the company to hire IEH Laboratories to overhaul its food safety and cooking methods.

"When you're given a project like this, you look at the universe of hazards," said Mansour Samadpour of IEH Laboratories as mentioned by NBC News.
