Don't Throw Away your Christmas Tree, Recycle It
As soon as the Christmas is over, many of us wonder what to do with the Christmas tree. There are many state governments across United States that will help in recycling these trees into something more useful. As the Christmas end, Georgia's "bring one for the chipper" initiative starts. This state-wide program soon after Christmas encourages the residents of Georgia to recycle their trees at various centers across the state. These trees are converted into mulch that is used in beautification projects supported by the local government, playgrounds and even for your own individual use, as reported by AJC.com
The annual festival of Georgia is scheduled to happen on 2nd January, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The residents can bring their trees and drop them off at designated locations. It has been 25 years since this tradition started back in 1991. "Bring one for the Chipper" since then has collected over 6 million trees that they have put to reuse for the benefit of the city as well as local communities. "We are excited to celebrate 25 years of tree recycling in Georgia. Bring One for the Chipper is the perfect opportunity to start the year off right by making a simple choice that benefits the environment. Easy, everyday choices are the key to keeping our communities beautiful." said Sarah Visser, Executive Director of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, says 11Alive
Recycling programs such as these help promoting eco-friendly holidays. Chipper gives the whole family the opportunity to participate in environmental stewardship. Dropping off the tree for recycling has become a family tradition and it's rewarding to see people come back year after year." added Visser.
