iPhone 7 Rumors: Apple Removing Headphone. To Introduce Wireless Charging
Apple will indeed drop the headphone jack to cut flab from its next iPhone, which could also be waterproof, a new report claims.
According to 9 to 5 Mac, the iPhone 7 could feature lighting port for both charging and earphones. Dropping the 3.5 mm jack will help further reduce the thickness of the iPhone. The last phone launched in the series was 7.1 mm. Decreasing phone's thickness may also cap the size of battery Apple can put in its devices. A report from Fast Company which claimed Apple would do away with the headphone jack also claimed that a noise cancellation feature is in the works.
"Our source adds that the audio system will also leverage a new noise-canceling technology from Wolfson Microelectronics-a U.K.-based audio tech company Cirrus acquired in 2014. The software will be baked into the phone and also into the headphones that will plug into it, and will help remove background noise in music playback and in phone calls, our source says," Fast Company's Mark Sullivan wrote.
The bundle earphones would however not feature the cancellation and Apple may instead have third-party support in selling expensive earphones with the feature.
It was also reported that iPhone 7 could feature wireless charging and water-proof design. Other rumors about Apple's next offering include a 4-inch iPhone, a 256 GB phone and a massive battery life.
