Video: Penguin At Cincinnati Zoo Named In David Bowie's Honor
One blue penguin was added to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens on Jan. 8.
To find a name for the little tyke, the zoo began to browse Facebook, and finally decided to call him Bowie, after the music legend who was born on the same day years ago, according to Discovery.
Another legend, Elvis, had also been born on Jan. 8, so Bowie did have the alternative name. However, the zoo keepers decided that as there was another penguin called King, they would stick to Bowie.
Even though the small guy got his name to honour the singer just one day before he died, that rockstar's coincidental death seems to make his name poignant and deep, say zoo officials.
The penguin baby broke out of his shell just like the musician, who is called "rock's greatest chameleon".
On the day he was born, "Before anything happened, [zookeepers] were playing David Bowie music - they're huge fans - in the nursery where the penguin was set up," said Angela Hatke Cincinnati Zoo Communications Coordinator, according to CBS News.

This shows how he was given his food on his/her third day.
Er, does that make him a male or a female? Not sure, acknowledges David Bowie in Rebel Rebel. Still, they will find out soon, although at present the baby penguin is androgynous.
That was how Bowie dressed too, anyway. So the link with the singer is clearly before you!
After all, Bowie is very vocal, just like the famous musician.
