Twitter App for iOS is consuming a lot of cellular data of iPhone users due to Vine video auto play. This has become a cause of serious concern to the users. To make matters worse, the firm will also add auto play for periscope videos too, says a report from BGR

According to the Guardian, now Twitter will also add autoplay Periscope videos to the feed which means that if the users are not actively viewing the content, it will still start playing automatically. This could mean serious data usage as unlike vine or Gifs, periscope videos can go on for hours which can lead to unknowingly consuming large amount of data also affecting their battery life. "Users who tap on the Periscope videos will then see them in full screen with comments and hearts from other viewers. The feature will be rolling out to Twitter for iOS users within the next few days," Guardian says, adding that the work on Android and web versions is in progress.

Even thought the sound is muted until you click on the video, users are not very pleased about the autoplay feature. According to Twitter, during testing this feature improved the views and engagements with the ads, so you can expect to see a lot more brand clips propping on your feed. However, if you have the option of turning it off. Since the Autoplay is only applicable to iOS and web, this concern is irrelevant to the Android users. In their defence, Twitter says that in case of limited bandwidth on your tablet or phone, it will automatically opt out of autoplay. You can also manually turn it off in the app by clicking the settings and selecting 'Never Play Videos Automatically' in the menu, says The Telegraph
