Google Street View Takes you to the Highest Peak of Western Europe
Mont Blanc, the terrain that towers above Italy and France is one of the most popular peaks of Western Europe that has been attracting climbers from all over the world. However, thanks to Google, anyone can scale this peak from the comforts of their home. In collaboration with the skiers, mountaineers, runners, alpine photographers and climbers, Google maps launched a 360-degree view of these mighty mountains. "By working with legendary adventurers, the Street View team was able to capture the spirit of the massif in a way few witness firsthand," Google project lead Sandy Russell wrote in a blog post.
"Run on the summit with Kilian Jornet - he holds the speed record for ascending and descending Mont Blanc in just 4 hours 57 minutes," Street View's Sandy Russell mentions in a blog post announcing the recent development. "Ice climb up a serac with record-setting alpine climber Ueli Steck, or go knee deep in powder alongside 14-time ski mountaineering champion Laetitia Roux and famed guide Patrick Gabarrou." In his blog, Russell notes that the mountains have witnessed a change in the recent years due to climate change "so this Street View imagery also serves as a digital record of Mont Blanc as it appears today, so future outdoor enthusiasts and scientists can look back at this time capsule to see how the mountain has changed," as reported by PC Mag
According to Digital Trends, if you have never experienced the Street Views by Google, especially of the mountain climbs, then this is the time to start and that too with one of the most enticing peaks of Mont Blanc. The mountains in the street view look spectacular and varied, allowing a chance to anyone with an active internet to get amazing views from the top of Europe.
