Scientists To Announce Advancement In Search For Gravitational Waves

There is an earth-shattering announcement that will be made on Thursday. It concerns research efforts to show evidence of gravitational waves, as well as the movements of space and time thought to transport energy across the world, according to Phys.org.

Albert Einstein had come up with a theory regarding their existence linked with general relativity a century ago. But till now, these waves have never been measured. The announcement is in sync with the 100th anniversary year of Albert Einstein's first publication predicting the existence of gravitational waves, said LIGO Scientific Collaboration.

With researchers spotting the gravitational waves, it highlights a huge scientific discovery, also advancing our awareness of the evolution of the world.

There was a rumour about the gravitational waves being spotted.

"My earlier rumor about LIGO has been confirmed by independent sources. Stay tuned! Gravitational waves may have been discovered!! Exciting," cosmologist Lawrence Krauss wrote on his Twitter account.

These gravitational waves are thought to be created around huge astronomical objects such as black holes and neutron stars. They tend to warp space and time. If the gravitational radiation is real, it will "open up a whole new realm of astronomy that does not use telescopes". Instead, the waves will help to view the black holes as well as neutron stars, says Forbes.
