Thursday, Skype announced a new update for iOS and Android located in Western Europe and U.S. They can now make group video calls from their tablets and smartphones in a week.

Now the users will be able to video chat with up to 25 people through Skype group video calling feature. There are two new viewed for video conferences designed by Skype. The first one allows the user to see the participants of the chat in a grid, ideal to use if you have a call scheduled with only a handful of people. The second speaker view shows the picture of the person talking, by default. On the side, one can see other participants in a scrollable row. The users can also use this view to "pin" someone. This way, they will be able to see a large view of the person who is most important for them. The users have the option to change who they pin during the call. They can also remove the pin and go back to Skype's default mode of showing the picture of the person who is talking on the call, says The Verge

However, it is important to note that the users will not be able to have video calls from mobile-to-mobile where the callers have to stare at a tablet or smartphone. But the people who are not in front of their computers can still join a group call help by the desktop using participants.

It was important for Skype to add group calling on mobile devices due to increased competition from Google Hangouts and other such services. These services often come pre-installed on an Android device, reports Computer World

Users outside of Western Europe and US can also expect an update anytime soon.
