Error-53 Bug Fixed by Apple
"Error-53" bug on Apple phones have been fixed by the latest update on iPhones. Many iPhone users had their phones rendered useless after they tried to get their home-screen buttons replaced at a third-party repair store.
According to some observers, Error-53 is perhaps Apple's way of imposing their control on Apple phones and devices. However, there are others who suggest that it may be an effort to prevent theft of your data after someone tampers with your touch id security, as reported by UPI
Apple, on the other hand, said that Error-53 was designed as factory test and was not supposed to impact the users. The customers who has to pay for replacement of the device out-of-warranty should contact AppleCare so that they can file for the reimbursements.
On Friday, Apple released a fix for this issue in their latest OS update, iOS 9.2.1. Devices faced "Error-53" when the home button, the circular button that allows the user to go back to the home screen, is newly installed and did not sync with the Touch ID that activates the touchscreen feature. When your iPhone gets this error, it shuts down the entire operating system and goes into "bricked" status, as per Apple. This means that your phone become a useless brick. As a result, "Error-53" is reported in iTunes because the device fails the security test, NBC News reports
As per a statement released by Apple after they announced the fix, "This test was designed to check whether Touch ID works properly before the device leaves the factory." The new update that was released this week will undo the bricked status on your iPhone and bring it back to its normal operating ability. "We apologize for any inconvenience," the statement from Apple said.
