The new Netflix smartphone app will give the users to watch their favorite shows and movies without using too much data. A representative from the company said that by the end of this year, a new feature will be rolled out for iOS and Android users that will limit the usage of bandwidth, reports International Business Times

After downloading the update, Netflix app will offer an option that will allow data saving in settings. When this option is turned on, it will turn the economic mode and consume less data and limit bit-rate, says Pocket-Lint. However, be prepared to compromise on the picture quality that will be below the Full HD 1080p. The performance will also be relatively lower as it will take longer for the video to buffer. The app will also give an option to view the videos in HD quality even though the "data save mode" will be on.

According to Netflix, HD viewing and saving mobile data usage are just some of the features that will be introduced with the next update. There will also be other features that will be enhanced along the way, including support for multiple screen resolutions.

Apart from this, Netflix is planning to integrate another feature known as the second screen. This will provide the users information about the cast of the video and also particular information related to the video on a second screen simultaneously. This feature will first be available on Chromecast and Android and will be later launched into iOS and consoles.

The important thing to note here is that the users will not have the privilege to set the list of bitrate, although this option may be offered later in the future. Regardless, this option will allow the users to watch their favorite shows without being worried about their mobile data usage, reported Tech Times
