Prince Death Blamed On Doctors? Painkiller Overdose Killed Singer
Prince death issue has taken a tragic twist lately since officials suspect that painkiller overdose took away his life. Authorities are reportedly investigating if Prince was prescribed of painkillers by a doctor through the week before he was found dead at his home.
The DEA's role "will be to determine such things as where the medications came from, and what prescriptions Prince had obtained. DEA agents often check those records in death investigations," as reported by NBC News.
On April, 15, just couple of days before Prince's death, his private plane had an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois. The 57-year old singer, who was heading back after one of his shows in Atlanta was said to have been found unconscious in the aircraft. He was then given a shot of Narcan, an antidote of opioid, since he was suspected to have had opiate overdose.
A week after the incident Prince was found dead at his at his suburban Minneapolis home. The officials then believed that Prince might have been on painkillers for quite some years to treat his arthritic hip pain as he possibly rejected medical invention as a part of his religious beliefs, according to Guardian.
Lucy Lawler-Freas, a promoter at Rival Entertainment in Atlanta where Prince performed in purple piano for the last time before he boarded the flight, said that the singer wasn't feeling too well when he arrived. She also said that the show was out of the world and no signs of his illness were to be seen during the show. However, Prince didn't stay for the show's after party which was quite unusual of him, Lawler-Freas added.
"He wasn't feeling well when he arrived," Lawler-Freas recalled. "But you wouldn't have known. He just said he wasn't feeling 100%. He did a brief soundcheck. You wouldn't have known he was sick - the shows were phenomenal. He gave it his all. But we knew he wasn't feeling well because he normally does an after-party. He did not. He was there an hour before he's due on stage and left immediately after. He wanted to go straight to his plane and go home."
