Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer found in American women next to skin cancer. It is reported that one in eight women in the United States has the chance of developing invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. While genes are the predominant decision makers in developing breast cancer early diagnosis of the disease would help a great deal in managing it effectively. Top 6 breast cancer alerts are hereunder.

Lumps in the breast

If you find a lump in your breast when you feel it with your hand it is the first alert of breast cancer. Though lumps are not felt unless they are 10 to 15 millimeter in size, there are sadly the first obvious symptoms of the disease. Remember not all the cyst or lumps in the breast are cancerous, however, consult a doctor immediately.

Changes in breast

"Rashes, irritation, itchiness, and visible veins on the breasts are all warning signs of breast cancer. The growth of tissue may change the shape or size of the breast causing the changes in skin. Many women make the mistake of visiting the dermatologist to ask for creams and medications of what they supposedly thought were rashes. If the breast's skin looks or feels any different, a breast exam should be in place," noted Parent Herald.

Lump in the armpit

Lump in the armpit could be felt if the cancer has already spread to the lymph nodes. The lump would be tender but painless. It is necessary to get medical aid as soon as possible if you feel the lump already.

Skin changes

"The skin of the breast may become dimpled or puckered. A thickening and dimpling of the skin is sometimes called orange peel skin, or peau d'orange. Redness, swelling and increased warmth (signs that look like an infection) may be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer. Itching of the breast or nipple may be a sign of inflammatory breast cancer," reported Canadian Cancer Society.

Changes in nipple

Few people usually have inwardly pointed nipple but if you find that the nipple is pointing inwardly all of a sudden consult a physician.

Discharges in the nipples

While nipple discharges commonly indicate many non-cancerous conditions, spontaneous blood stained discharge from just one nipple could be an alert of breast cancer.
