'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Did Barry Allen Get Speed Back With Experiment On Particle Accelerator?

For the second episode in a row on “The Flash”, the team had to make ends meet in dealing with metahumans. Though the episode “Rupture” did start out with an uncanny speedster, it turns out that it was nothing more than a hologram anchored on Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdez) with the hope of keeping the hopes in Central City alive.

Despite the temporary recourse, Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) emphasized that their ploy would only be temporary. At some point something will give and all that expectedly took place towards the end.

Wells was batted that Allen needed to get his speed back for everyone’s safety. And the way to do that was to recreate the particle accelerator explosion but on a contained level. After seeing members of the police force fall at “Jitters” courtesy of “Zoom” (Teddy Sears), the event pushes Barry to take up Wells on his offer.

To make it happen, all the things present the night Barry was able to get his powers (chemicals and lightning included) had to be present. With Cisco handling the lightning storm, Wells was behind the control to facilitate the recreation of the explosion.

Rather than see Barry become the Flash again, he disintegrates in the process making many believe that he has been lost. While that could be the simplest explanation, it is not and chances are he will be back in the next episode and probably better.

An angle that could shed more light is the ‘Speed Force’ which will likely be detailed more in the coming episodes. In the comics, the Flash did die on “Crisis on Infinite Earths” trying to save the universe. He did however return so there could be a shortcut somewhere along the line as far as the TV series is concerned. For now, he could be wandering off (unknowingly) in some alternative universe or earth).

There is no telling how he will return to Central City though there could be more speedsters appearing after Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Jesse Wells (Violett Beane) were victims of the explosion. Left lifeless, there is a chance that these two could step up and provide needed help to the Flash if and when he returns.

The Flash returns Tuesday on the CW Network at 8 p.m. ET. on the episode titled “The Runaway Dinosaur”.
