For the consumer electronic folks out there, many may have noticed flagship smartphones and tablets offering a mini or lite version which is seen as an alternative to rendering smaller and slightly cheaper devices that folks can get their hand on. At the moment, leading brands like Sony and LG have their own renditions with the Sony X Performance Lite and the LG G5 Lite. So with that in mind, would it even come as a surprise if Samsung dips its hands in the mix and comes out with a ‘lite’ version as well?

The word out is that Samsung could be coming out with a Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Lite version as well though much of it seems to be still in the planning stages and that the Korean company will be releasing two variants of the upcoming device.

Rumors claim that Samsung is currently in a dilemma figuring out if the lite version would come out with a flat or curved screen or even both. Seeing that it may come out with two variants, it is likely that there will be one flat and one curved model though such has yet to be confirmed.

The display will however be a bit smaller at 5.8-inches and will only be 1080p. Other possible specs that the alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Lite could come with include that of running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. Skimming down the list of possible features, the alleged lite or mini version carries features that call to mind another Samsung device in the Galaxy S7.

While most of this has yet to be confirmed, it may be safe to say that the alleged version does pack a punch which will most likely be priced friendlier compared to other ones available in the market. So has Samsung decided to give brands like Sony, LG and HTC some competition in the mini or lite category?

Most of that should be answered once Samsung makes it official and reveals the pricing for the alleged variants if they are indeed factual and in the works. But it does beg to ask if broadening the roster of flagships that they have to offer could backfire and affect the sales of existing flagships that seem to be doing well as we speak.
