Captain America Civil War Movie: Ant Man, Wasp Deleted Scenes & Why Hank Pym Failed

“Captain America: Civil War” has so far been doing well though such may not be surprising with the movie showcasing a stellar cast of popular Marvel heroes. For some, it is technically an “Avengers” movie as well with most heroes in attendance sans “Thor” and “The Hulk”.

Nevertheless, the movie saw the inclusion of other Marvel heroes who were not in the pair of “Avengers” films that came out like “Black Panther” (Chadwick Boseman) and “Ant-Man” (Paul Rudd). Of the two, it seemed that Ant-Man would have had more scenes had the early and primary drafts of the film.

That would have included the appearance of Hank Pym had writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus considered it. Unfortunately both felt that the early draft was a bit off and wasn’t seen as a good fit.

Another Marvel hero who has long been tied up was “The Wasp”. With Ant-Man around, the animated series or comic version would normally see both together. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. But what if “Wasp” did appear? Would Janet Van Dyne have played the role?

The role will be apparently be played out by Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) who was spotted trying on the mantle during the post-credits of the “Ant-Man” movie.

"In the case of Wasp, [we left her out because] it was really kind of ruining a good story point for her in her own movie," McFeely said.

True enough, “Captain America: Civil War” may have had enough heroes on hand so adding more footage or characters could have resulted in hurting the film or making their appearances senseless.
The film saw some heroes appearing though their exposure was limited. One guy who made an impression though was “Spiderman” (Tom Holland) who made an impression even before through the official trailers.

The Vision, Falcon and War Machine were some of the characters that appeared and barely made an impression though their appearances have been recurring.

Rudd made quite an impression yet again with his antics as “Ant-Man” while “Black Panther” was cool and composed on his end especially in the fight scenes. Individuality aside, the movie was all about trying to blend in everyone, regardless of who got major and minor exposure.

With that in mind, one can just imagine the potential flop of overcastting “Ant-Man” or even “Wasp” in any case. Could that be in 2018 when “Avengers: Infinity Wars - Part I” comes out?
