Overwatch Release Date & Characters: Pre-Order, Price & Bonus Features

“Overwatch” is slated to come out on May 24, 2016 which is only a couple of days from now. And this early a lot of folks who grew addicted to it are exploring the various ways to get it following the conclusion of its beta last weekend.

For those who are unfamiliar, “Overwatch” is multiplayer first-person shooting game from Blizzard Entertainment that allows players to select from a variety of characters they can pick and play.

For a brief overview on “Overwatch”, the game features two teams made of six players. Players will be responsible for choosing their characters who will be differentiated with their unique abilities and class. The game setting is in the near-future Earth, years after the resolution of the global-scale "Omnic Crisis".

While the game seems nothing out of the ordinary, the response seems to be overwhelming. With its impending release, gamers are now looking at how they could possibly get their hands on game.

For the ones looking to simply get a digital copy, the “Overwatch” digital version will cost $39.99. Games who pre-order the game will get a bonus in the form of the Widowmaker Noire skin, something clad in black and red.

On the other hand, folks looking to get the physical copy of “Overwatch” will end up buying the “Origins Edition” that costs about $59.99. Take note as well that the “Origins Edition” is something that can also be purchased digitally.

What makes the “Origins Edition” different from the plain one? The edition offers a lot of perks that include five skins. These are Overgrown Bastion, Blackwatch Reyes, Slipstream Tracer, Strike-Commander Morrison, and Security Chief Pharah.

Other than that, the “Origins Edition” of “Overwatch” will also include game goodies from multiple Blizzard games such as:

  • Diablo III – Mercy’s Wings
  • World of Warcraft – Baby Winston Pet
  • Hearthstone – Card Back
  • StarCraft II – In-game Portraits
  • Heroes of the Storm – Tracer Hero

While the options keep getting sweeter, gamers may as well consider the “Overwatch” Collector’s edition. Though the price jumps to a hefty $129.99, you get a lot of goodies as well. That includes:

  • A 12.8″ statue of Soldier
  • A visual sourcebook of Overwatch illustrations and information
  • The Overwatch soundtrack
  • 5 skins and in-game goodies mentioned via the Origins Edition

“Overwatch” can be purchased from leading retailers such as Gamestop and Best Buy, both offering further perks on pre-orders.

Folks getting one from Gamestop will also get an exclusive Mini Baby Winston Figure and a Tracer poster when they pre-order the game but only until supplies last. Take note that they offer only the physical version. On the other side, Best Buy customers get “Overwatch Collectible Metal Art Plate”.

Gamers residing outside the US will get some minor perks as well in the form of pins and badges.
