The Flash Season 3 Spoilers, Release Date & Cast: Barry Allen Loses Hope, Villains Take Over
“The Flash” season 2 is one episode way from a wrap though it may not be an entirely happy ending once again. Looking back at the previous episode titled “Invincible” recall how Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) was being cautioned by his comrades of being too optimistic.
The new found optimism in Barry was a result of his meeting with the “Speed Force”, though Joe (Jesse L. Martin)and Iris West (Candice Patton) felt that he was being too overconfident in his outlook. All that somehow took a turn towards the ending when “Zoom” (Teddy Sears) kidnapped his father Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) and killed.
The new development is likely to see a severely down Barry in the season finale which could be all about revenge and putting a stop to “Zoom’s” evil ways. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) summed up the season finale in three words – “huge”, “crying” and “tearful” via Facebook Live chat.
Martin pretty much sees it the same way, terming the finale as something “devastating” since there are perhaps no good words to describe the state Barry would be in.
Despite these debacles, no other than Gustin himself believes that ‘optimism’ will remain and a lot of that will be seen in season 3 per his interview with ComicBook.com.
"I will be adamant! I don’t know what’s going to happen in season 3, how they’re going to write it, where they’re going to go, but Berlanti and Kreisberg and Geoff – I actually don’t know how closely Geoff’s involved anymore – but all those guys know The Flash better than anybody, and they know that he has to have the optimism."
For now however, there is the matter of wrapping up the second season, something that has been a rollercoaster ride for “The Flash”. Regardless, Gustin says Barry will be able to get through it and manage his losses and recall that optimism he has been showing thus far.
All that will likely unfold on “The Race of His Life” something that will showcase more torture from his nemesis “Zoom”. It will be the final showdown that could very well set the tone for season 3 of “The Flash” which happens in the Fall on CW.
