In case of mild hearing loss people can decipher one to one conversation but not when they are in a crowd. When the hearing loss is in moderate stage one tend to ask the speaker to repeat the conversation in person as well as over the phone.

In severe hearing loss it becomes difficult to follow the conversations without the help of a hearing aid. In case of profound hearing loss one can hear only if a person is extremely loud and without a hearing aid or cochlear implant understanding someone's speech becomes impossible.
