U2 New Album ‘Songs of Experience’ Update: Band Members Are Very Focused On Upcoming Record, Says Ryan Tedder
While U2 is keeping mum on the release date of their new studio album titled "Songs of Experience," one of the band's co-producers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, has revealed some details about the upcoming album.
In an interview with Radio.com, Tedder said that the band members are very much focused on their upcoming new album.
"I've never seen them this focused," he said.
Tedder revealed that U2 new album "Songs of Experience" will consist mostly of newly-written songs, with only a few songs that didn't make it to the band's last released album "Songs of Innocence."
"It's a new record. There might be one or two songs from Songs of Innocence [included]," the band's co-producer added.
U2 band member, Edge, had recently revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that fans should not expect the record to drop any time soon.
"It's really hard to say at this point when it will be done," the Edge told Rolling Stone. "We're definitely still in the weeds here. We're not booking the pressing plant, so to speak, just yet."
He also said that the band have a lot of work to be done on the upcoming new U2 album.
"Including a lot of my really rough demos-I'm not suggesting they're finished, by any means-there's actually 50 pieces of music that I've put time into," he said.
"Some of them have not been arranged or performed by the band, but there's 50 ideas, and probably about 20 that we're actually really excited about. So we've got some ways to narrow it down, but we're in good shape."
Edge further added that the band is currently trying to be brutal with the material and only focus on the things that they really think are the best ideas.
He said that the band has started listing songs that will make it to the upcoming album.
Speculations are that the U2 new album will get released sometime later in 2016.
