The Flash Season 3 Spoilers, Cast & Release Date: 5 Important Facts You Should Know

“The Flash” season 2 finale ended with a bang as “Barry Allen” (Grant Gustin) and “Zoom” (Teddy Sears) capped up the whole episode with a “race” which explained why the episode was titled “The Race of His Life”.

Season finale recap

A brief recap of the finale is that “The Flash” was able to defeat “Zoom” using his own game, finding a way to be at two places at one time. “Joe West” (Jesse L. Martin) was the latest kidnap victim of “Zoom” and “Barry” had to win against “Zoom” to save his life.

Everyone knows that “Zoom” will not let “Joe” loose that easily and such is perhaps the reason why “Barry” took the initiative of going back in time before the race and deal with another version of himself. “Flash” didn’t have to kill “Zoom” in the end, letting the “Wraiths” deal with him.

Man in the iron mask revealed

Aside from that, there were revelations that stole the show as well. There was the revelation of the man in the iron mask who “Zoom” referred to as the real “Jay Garrick”. But when it was taken off, it revealed that Garrick was a dead ringer for his recently deceased father “Henry Allen” (John Wesley Shipp).

At that point, it calls to mind how Shipp played the role of the “Speedster” back in the 1990s. That new costume donned towards the end was different but then again, it was perfect for the tone of the series.

Moving forward to season 3, the ending of season 2 left a lot of questions than answers. Here are some important facts worth noting.

1. Have we seen the last of Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Jesse Wells (Violett Beane)?

Cavanagh is someone likely to return in season 3, same with Jesse who has yet to reveal how fast she can go. While the ending showed them and Garrick exit to Earth 2, Barry’s save on his mother Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison) could alter all that.

2. Barry and Iris relationship

The series ended with Barry and Iris agreeing to try and see how a relationship work out. But even that could be moved back with Barry’s intrusion of his mother’s death.

3. Zoom will return

With Barry fending off the “Reverse Flash”, the villain will likely try to get back at Barry. During the save, the “Reverse Flash” was out of the picture and everyone knows that a split-second tells a lot of things to come.

4. Flash powerless once more in season 3

Barry’s save on his mother will alter the course of history on how he got his powers. His father will not be imprisoned and he will likely grow to a normal life. His relationship with Iris will not occur so he is supposed to technically show up in season 3 as a normal being.

5. Prepping for “Flashpoint”

“Flashpoint” has been repeatedly singled out through the course of the series and the save could very well set up the stage in season 3. It hints that Harrison may appear in a couple of episodes and may eventually come to a point where Barry will try to correct his actions and the timeline.

As one can see, the ending opens up a lot of possibilities that have altered the things that have already occurred in two seasons. It could go as far as affecting other crossovers as well (i.e. “The Arrow”) but that would be thinking ahead.

“The Flash” season 3 returns in the Fall on CW.
