Motorola Has Something Cooking With MotoMod Snap-Ons
The latest mobile devices under Lenovo-Motorola are expected to be shown this coming June 9 and based on the teasers that have come out, consumer electronic fans are in for some major transformations. Expected to star for that event are the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play.
The tweet goes: “From brick, to flip, to snap. Snapping is the new flipping. Watch Moto transform mobile, again, June 9” – a curious statement that has gotten a lot of people thinking. The words used were obviously meant to depict something and some people have gone as far to speculate that it could be the return of the old ‘flip’ phones tied up to the Motorola RAZR.

While that should be something, all belief on that has been shot down no less by Motorola rep. Kathryn Hanley.
“The RAZR was one of the most iconic phones ever designed and redefined how stylish a mobile phone can be. While Moto is not re-releasing the RAZR, we will transform mobile again on June 9,” says Hanley via Time.com.
With that said, consumers will have to guess again to figure out what Motorola is trying to arrive at with the uncanny tweet. But the best bet may have something to do with the ‘MotoMods’.
For those who are not familiar with it, ‘MotoMods’ are optional modules that eventual owners can snap on the rear of the upcoming Moto Z and/or Droid Z to get more features like a module with an advanced camera with optical zoom.
The Moto Z phone models will come with attachable backplates to allow the added functionality. Among the other modules that will be available include a Pico projector, stereo speakers, and a camera grip with zoom lens.
With the modules, the upcoming Moto Z phones do expand the possibilities to go with the set specs that the smartphone is expected to carry.
As far as the Moto Z Style is concerned, the device is rumored to have specs that include a 5.5-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and a potential 16 MP main camera.
As far as the Moto Z Play, this variant could come out with a full HD screen display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and a 13 MP main camera.
While the specs for both phones seem a bit scarce for now, more details should come out in the coming days on what both devices will have to offer.
