The release date of "The Maze Runner" sequel is postponed to 2018 as the lead character of the movie, Dylan O'Brien is still recovering from the accident that occurred during the shoot. "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" which was earlier announced to be released on 17, Feb 2017 is pushed to 12, Jan 2018.

O'Brien, who plays the lead in the final installment of the "The Maze Runner" trilogy, was injured in the sets during the shoot. He was admitted in a hospital in Vancouver, Canada where the filming was taking place, according to Xpose.

The shooting was initially reported to resume on May 16 but the recent information has it that the company has stopped the filming for foreseeable future. Meanwhile, Fox studios announced on Saturday, 28 May that the release date of the film will be on 12 Jan, 2018. The delay of the film is attributed to O'Brien's health issues as he is yet to recover completely from the injury.

"Dylan was in a harness on top of a moving vehicle when he was pulled off unexpectedly and hit by another vehicle. His injuries were described in a report from the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia as including a 'concussion, facial fracture and lacerations,'" noted Hollywood Reporter.

It is reported that the crew didn't know earlier that O'Brien's injury was that severe when they announced that the shoot will resume in May. Now that O'Brien needs some more time the company is said to have sent the cast and crew members back home noting that the shoot will begin after the actor recovers completely. According to O'Brien's publicist, Jennifer Allen the actor's suffered severe injuries which would take more time to heal.

"The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O'Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible," read a statement from Fox, reported Hollywood Reporter.

"The Maze Runner" fans need to wait till 2018 for the release of the film while praying for O'Brien.
