The Flash Season 3 Spoilers, Cast & Plot: Barry Allen Keeps Tom Cavanagh As Series Regular

“The Flash” season 2 is over and everyone likely witnessed Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Jesse Wells (Violett Beane) joining the ‘real’ Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) as they returned to their own world, Earth-2.

That scene alone begged to ask if it was indeed the last we have seen of those characters though a recent report from EW now sheds more light. Tom Cavanagh has been confirmed to return for “The Flash” season 3 though it remains to be seen to be seen what role he will be taking on. Will Cavanagh be a friend or a foe to “Team Flash”?

Season 3 of the “Flash” will be pretty interesting and many are already associating it with a possible “Flashpoint” link. A lot of that has to do with the ending scene of the “Flash” season 2 finale where
Barry Allen/Flash” (Grant Gustin) saved his mother Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison) from being killed by the “Reverse Flash”.

With that point in the timeline altered, there is bound to be a change somewhere in season 3. One of those include the possibility of “Flash” not having his powers at all with the “Reverse-Flash” likely having a hand in it like what the animated version showed.

So how does this all affect Harrison Wells? With the “Reverse-Flash” aka “Eobard Thawne” not murdering Nora Allen, it goes as far as altering that scene as well where Thawne killed Wells.

For those who missed that one, Thawne was responsible for the car crash of a good-natured Wells and then assumed his identity. If so, this could set the stage of seeing the original Harrison Wells meaning he will be a good guy. Remember this scene?

Because of his actions, Barry may end up starting season 3 as a mortal meaning he will have no superpowers. But like in the animated series, will it radiate and affect other CW shows like “The Arrow”, “Legends of Tomorrow” and newly acquired “Supergirl”?

If that happens it wouldn’t be surprising but that may be tipping the pot a little bit. The focus right now is on the actual series which will be in for a lot of major changes.

“The Flash” season 3 returns this October on CW.
