The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is about to air very soon and fans are wondering what's brewing for their fave characters. Damon will become possessed and this worries his brother Stefan. How will Elena react to Damon's 'demonic' turn?

Showrunner Julie Plec spoke with Entertainment Weekly and she said Stefan knows what happened to Damon is not his brother's fault. Whatever it is Damon is going through is caused by something he cannot control, he cannot get out of. Stefan is totally focused on rescuing his brother from this vile situation. He knows that whatever the outcome would be could seriously impact Damon's ability to be reunited with Elena.

Saving innocent lives are not the only thing Stefan is concerned about. His brother needs to live for something, and Elena is the only one who can do that, even in her unconscious state. But Damon has turned wild since his possession. This is a bit more complex to handle compared to his 'phases' where he chooses to emotionally 'shut down'.

In The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was clearly overwhelmed by what he saw in the Armory's vault. They don't know what the evil creature wants. Whatever their mission will be, Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will be dealing with a massive trail of cadavers.

It seems like Stefan is going to go through hell before he's able to save his brother. The official synopsis released for Season 8 read: "Stefan realizes that whatever has a hold of his brother may have a more damaging grip over him he could have ever imagined."

The End of the Salvatore Clan?

The new villain seems to be dead set in targeting the entire family which includes Sarah Salvatore (Tristin Mays). TVLine got hold of Plec and she said that it's going to be a mystery what brings her back. Initially, fans will find her irrelevant to everything. But when you realize what it is about, you'll know exactly what the villain wants to do.
