Apple Car, the dream project of Steve Jobs, initially conceived way before Original Apple IPhone in 2008. But the project was put on hold to focus on IPhone. Code named "Project Titan", the project is intended to build Electric mini-van, which has the autonomous driving system and integrated with iCloud for best and seamless functionality. However, the project faced several obstacles before halting it permanently.

In 2014, swelling Apple's profits have drawn Apple attention back towards the dream car project. Apple seriously started recruiting people from its competitor-Tesla. Project Titan is envisaged to be an electric mini-van, offering iCloud compatibility for synchronizing the data of ITunes & IPhone with the Apple Car operating system.

The initial project comprising of a cross-functional team of more than 1000, were recruited from various companies like Tesla, General Dynamics, GM, Ford, Concept Systems and etc. They worked inside Apple Secret lab at Cupertino campus. In 2015, an email from an Apple employee to Business Insider strengthened the rumors of the Apple Car project. He further stated that the new car project will make Tesla "run for its money".

In Feb 2015 The Wall Street Journal dropped the bombshell, confirming that the project is running full steam and that apple has recruited all the auto experts required to work on this project. At one point, Apple was in talk with BMW and Daimler to build an electric car with Apple designs. But, further negotiations have ceased because Apple persistence to control the system.

In 2016, the project head, Steve Zadesky planned to quit Apple, driving lay-off spree in the project.  Rebooting of resources and the paucity of funds due to poor IPhone sales, enforced Apple to downsize the project. With tapered resources, Apple decided to build only Autonomous Driving System for the car.  The new team targeted with a deadline of 2017 to complete the project and the car design is shelved permanently, until foreseeable future.

The much ambitious and secret project of Steve Jobs is now restricted to a small core team, who are working to develop driverless car system that is compatible with existing cars while offering fabulous features inside the car
